International Cat Day
Celebrating our feline companions and the joy, comfort, independence, and entertainment they bring to millions of homes worldwide. Today belongs to the cats.
What Is International Cat Day?
International Cat Day, celebrated globally on August 8th, was created by the International Fund for Animal Welfare in 2002 to raise awareness about cats and promote their welfare. The day celebrates domestic cats while also advocating for cat rescue, adoption, and proper care.
Cats are the internet's favorite animal for good reason—they're independent yet affectionate, entertaining yet calming, mysterious yet comforting. Whether they're purring in laps, knocking things off counters, or simply existing with regal indifference, cats enrich the lives of their humans immeasurably.
