Human Rights Day
Honoring the inherent dignity and equal rights of all members of the human family. Human rights are not privileges to be granted, but fundamental freedoms belonging to everyone.
What Is Human Rights Day?
Human Rights Day, observed on December 10th, commemorates the day in 1948 when the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This landmark document proclaims the inalienable rights to which everyone is entitled as a human beingâregardless of race, color, religion, sex, language, political opinion, national or social origin, property, birth, or other status.
The day reminds us that human rights are universal and indivisibleâthey apply to everyone, everywhere. It is a call to protect the vulnerable, speak up against injustice, promote equality, and work toward a world where every person can live with dignity, freedom, and security. Human rights are not abstract ideals; they are the foundation of a just society.
