International Day of Peace
A global day dedicated to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among nations. Peace is more than the absence of conflictâit is a commitment to understanding, compassion, and justice.
What Is International Day of Peace?
Established by the United Nations in 1981, the International Day of Peace (also known as World Peace Day) is observed on September 21st each year. The day is devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace through observing 24 hours of non-violence and ceasefire. Each year focuses on a specific theme relevant to peace.
Peace begins with small actionsâresolving conflicts with empathy, building bridges across differences, promoting understanding over judgment, and choosing dialogue over division. The day reminds us that peace is not just a political goal but a daily practice in our communities, workplaces, and relationships.
