Labor Day
Honoring the workers who built our economy, fought for fair treatment, and continue to keep society functioning. Their labor, advocacy, and dedication deserve recognition.
What Is Labor Day?
Labor Day, celebrated on the first Monday of September in the United States, honors the American labor movement and the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well-being of the country. The holiday originated from the labor union movement in the late 19th century when workers fought for fair wages, reasonable hours, and safe conditions.
Today, Labor Day recognizes all workersâfrom office employees to essential workers, from teachers to tradespeople. It is a day to appreciate the labor that sustains our communities, supports families, and drives innovation. The weekend marks both an end-of-summer celebration and a reminder that workers' rights are worth protecting.
